What are some good credit cards for credit repair that AREN'T scams?

I've never had a credit card (although my credit sucks) and heard they're a great way to repair credit. Any tips?

check out all three credit reports for free at annualcreditreport.com.

look for errors, and id theft. figure out a statement for investigators to check out.

Credit cards aren't really good for credit repair. what you want are records from loans, and utility company credit to show that you are able to manage your money.

As for credit cards, apply for one at your bank or credit union, in combo with your atm. once your start making progress, you'll get raises on the credit limit. That's when you'll know things are working out. It's the only legit way.

as for the site above- it has your report from TransUnion, Experian, and well you'll find out. It was setup as part of a fed mandate. The most important document a US resident has, as the inofrmation on it will help someone else determine if you get the job you apply for, rent the house or apt, get a phone or electric account, and so on. almost as insidious as being investigated and watched by the CIA.

But people get errors placed on the file all the time, but never seem to look at their own file to see what's right and what's not.

Apply for a card at your bank. You're more likely to get approved (perhaps with a very low limit if your credit's bad) since you have an account there.

Otherwise try one of the big Sub-Prime credit card issuers. The biggest one I know is Capital One. The other largest issuers are all Prime (Chase, Citi, Bank of Am).
