Your Personal Credit Report

It is too bad more young people do not understand the importance of their personal credit report and how it can affect the next several years of their life. Too many times there are people making bad choices, which are affecting their credit and brushing it off as no big deal. But the fact of the matter is that when you suddenly are in need of getting credit, you may find you are having trouble if you did not take your personal credit report serious before. After getting turned down for loans a few times, you may find that you really do need to start paying attention to what goes on that report.

Mistakes that have been made in the past concerning your payment history and your credit will remain on that report for several years. Even if you make a change and start paying everything on time and even get a better job, those few moments where you let the credit fall to the side will reflect on there for several years. But, the bright side is that lenders will look more at your recent history, such as the past year or two, and make most of their decisions based on how you have been recently. This is a good thing to keep in mind when wanting to make sure your personal credit report shines.

What is Listed

On your personal credit report you will find personal information about yourself such as your past and current address, your employment history, and your social security number. This information is used to make sure it is really you when applying for credit so this is meant to protect you and the company, or lender, involved. Your personal credit report will also give a detailed description of what accounts you currently have opened and even the ones that you have recently closed. There will be information on your payment history and the balances you owe.

And then the next thing that can be found on your personal credit report is that of who has inquired about your credit history recently. This will give a lender a good idea of how many credit cards you are applying for at the same time. If they find too many inquires on your personal credit report, they may consider you to be too high of a risk to lend any money to. The important thing to remember is that the information, be it good or bad, will follow you for several years so make sure your personal credit report is important to you.

The Pros And Cons Of Small Business Credit Cards

A lot of small businesses are concerned with cash flow and credit cards may seem like the answer to this problem. There are a lot of them available so you will have to decide based upon your business's needs.

What Considerations Must Be Made In Way Of Small Business Credit Cards

Businesses should not depend solely upon small business credit cards as their only source of capital. Instead these should only be a way in which to pay for materials, goods and services whenever cash is a little tight.

These small business credit cards are also a practical way in which to make large purchases and track the money that you have spent. This is because they have great software for recording purchases and deals, even those that your employees make. You will also discover that a lot of creditors offer rewards for using these small business credit cards. Some of these rewards include discounts, prizes, cash-back schemes and frequent flyer miles.

On the other hand, your signature has to be on these small business credit cards, so if you ever happen to defaulted on payments, the creditors and banks will be coming after you, not your business. This is because the professional and personal finances of the business owner are considered the same for the first few years. You should also understand that these things will also be included in your credit report. However, this does not mean that you will necessarily get the same protection as consumers. For instance, many credit card companies will not allow you to dispute billing errors in the same manner nor will the credit card company lend you their assistance if you purchase bad merchandise.

So, you really should consider whether these credit cards would be beneficial to you or not. Well, if you are able to be disciplined and you are willing to take on an added responsibility, then maybe these credit cards are for you. However, you are going to need to be sure to choose and use them wisely. Otherwise they can and they will affect your credit record. With this in mind, it is important for you to be able to pay off your credit card's balance as quickly as you can. This will score you a lot of points with both your personal and your professional creditors. They can also help you to renegotiate your terms more convincingly later on.

Don’t Get Cheap When You Order a Credit Report

In this world you get what you pay for and that is true of anything. It is also said that you should never look to skimp on the important things in life like a home and a car. The things you rely on the most are the things you should always be prepared to invest the most into. That is extremely true when you order a credit report.

Today there is a growing number of people that are being vigilant about watching for irregularities on their credit report and to appease those growing masses there are companies popping up that claim to allow you to order a credit report for you to look over. As with any other internet business ever created, there are plenty of people out there looking to scam unsuspecting consumers.

While they may look like they are offering you the ability to order a credit report for a very reasonable price, the fact is that many of these new companies that allow you to order a credit report are scam artists and criminals out to get your credit card information and as much of your personal information as you can get. If you really want to order a credit report then the best advice is buy from the credit reporting companies and do not try and get a cheap deal.

It is a very good idea to order a credit report once in a while to monitor it and see what is on there. Keep in mind that if you order a credit report too often then that begins to reflect negatively on your credit which, aside from being the biggest form of irony on the planet, this is also an easy way to damage your credit. If you want to order a credit report just do it once a quarter, or once every six months, and make sure you get them from one of the credit reporting agencies.

Why do People Still Fall for Emails?

It cannot be emphasized enough that clicking on a link in an email and then giving your personal information at the website you are sent to is a very dangerous thing to do. But yet there are criminals out there offering you the chance to order a credit report by clicking on a link in the email they send you and then asking for your credit card information and your personal information.

Be smart and just delete these emails rather than giving the criminals the information they need to ruin your life. The act of ordering a credit report should not be something that causes you financial pain and hardship. Be smart and make sure you are getting your credit report right from the source.

How to Sort Through the Many Professional Credit Repair Organizations

If you are like millions of other Americans, your credit may not be as stellar as it could be. You may be finding it difficult to manage your current bills and are being harassed by creditors demanding payments that you just don’t have. There is a way out of your credit debt nightmare and that is by contacting professional credit repair organizations.

What can Professional Credit Repair Organizations Do for You?

Once you have decided to take the bull by the horns where it concerns your credit debt and you are ready to do something concrete about the problem, you should research many professional credit repair organizations that are advertised either on the internet, the yellow pages or a television or radio ad that you may have seen or heard. In this way you can find the right professional credit repair organizations that will help you pay down your debt and be on the way to having more spending power when you are looking to make large purchases.

If you encounter professional credit repair organizations that promise that they will help you to erase all the bad credit history you have accumulated, these are organizations that should be avoided. Also avoid professional credit repair organizations that ask you to pay them a fee before any work is done for you. Reputable professional credit repair organizations are more than willing to disclose any information about their company and their practices to you. They will encourage you to take steps to become involved in the process of repairing your own credit. Those professional credit repair organizations that have good reputations will work with you to make a repayment plan that you will be able to live with and by paying back your debt, this in itself begins to repair your credit.

Good professional credit repair organizations will also give you counseling on how you can manage your finances and not find yourself in the same situation again. They will educate you on how to best budget your money, how to start a savings account, as well as other necessary information for you to become a wise consumer.

Your debt to income ratio is an important factor in determining whether you can borrow money or not and your credit history is another factor in deciding what type of interest rate a lender is willing to offer you. The better your credit rating is the lower the interest rates offered will be. It is well worth your time and money to look into professional credit repair organizations so that you can get on a healthy financial track for your future.

Secured Credit Cards Help Rebuild Credit

There are many reasons folks run into credit trouble; illness, job loss or divorce among them, and they find themselves with a poor credit rating. Once they work through their short-term financial woes, they look to rebuild their credit rating and one method they can use is with the use of secured credit cards. They work the same as traditional credit cards and no one can tell the difference, and most often, they carry the same penalties as traditional cards.

The way secured credit cards work is that a person has to open an account with the issuing lender and their credit limit is set at the amount being held in the account. Most institutions require a savings account and the money is held as collateral on the amount of the loan made on the credit card. The rules are the same as though it were an unsecured card, in that monthly minimum payments must still be made by the due date.

If a payment is missed the user is still accessed a late fee and, if applicable an over limit fee and any other charges accessed as with traditional credit cards. The difference is that with secured credit cards, after a set number of days being late, the amount due on the card is taken from the savings account. Basically, it is similar to a pre-paid credit card but it comes with the same fees as a credit card account.

Helps Re-Establish Credit History

When a person has an undesirable credit score, lenders are reluctant to offer them unsecured credit. Taking a chance on someone with a poor rating is not in the best interest of credit card companies. By using secured credit cards a person can demonstrate that they are responsible and will pay off their debt as agreed.

However, if the cardholder makes all their payments on time and makes at least the minimum payment required, every month their record is reported to the three major credit bureaus, which will help their credit score edge upwards. Once the score has risen to the level accepted by other credit card companies, they can open an unsecured account and close that associated with their secured credit cards.

Some companies holding the accounts on secured credit cards will allow established users to open an unsecured account through that company, hoping to maintain the savings account the person used to re-establish their credit history. Not only has the person helped re-establish their credit, they now have a savings account in good standing, on their way to financial independence.

Beware Of Online Credit Repair

Although there are legitimate online credit repair companies, there are also a lot of fraudsters and scammers on the web. The printed or written word has always held a magical power over humans. At one point, only the priests or the elect were aloud to write because writing wielded so much power. Now, although thankfully everyone is allowed to write, the belief that “If it’s written down, it must be true” still persists today.
But, if you take these tips and use your common sense, then choosing an online credit repair service need not be so scary.

Don’t Get Hooked

You get online credit repair adverts everywhere online – especially through your email box. Unless you specifically asked an online credit repair service to email you information, all other e-mails are spam. They are either advertising fraudulent companies or are Trojan Horses in order to trick you into sending them your personal information to be used for identity theft. NEVER CLICK ON ANY LINKS in any spam email. Never download any attachments or PDF files included with a spam. And when you delete a spam email, delete it from your “delete” file just to be sure there isn’t any spyware to sneak onto your hard drive.

That’s A Scam, Folks

The Federal Trade Commission has listed many helpful tips on sorting the wheat from the chaff in online credit repair services. If any of the ads promise the following, they are scams:

“We can repair anyone’s credit history” (Impossible!)
“We can remove all traces of bankruptcy, liens and defaulting on loan payments from your credit history permanently.” (Illegal!)
“We can give you a new credit identity.” (Incredibly illegal!)
“We need you to pay before we do any work for you.” (Also illegal in America.)

Run like a deer.

Know Your Rights

Legitimate credit repair services that often offer online counseling or meetings are interested in helping you for the long term, not just for short term fixes. They will (or should) push you to take money management courses and credit repair counseling. These courses are low cost. You should never have to pay more than $100. Be sure they are government approved. Any credit service – whether online credit repair or not – has to let you know up front what services you can do for free and what need fees. They also should never ask you to falsify any information or buy extra services like life insurance.

A Few Tips Related to Understanding How to Read a Credit Report

When it comes to learning how to read a credit report, one can very often easily become confused. However, there is no need for it, since you only need to understand the implications of what all of the information contained in your credit reports really mean.

The reports can also easily be divided into any of four different sections that can be studied individually for greater clarity. The first category is, of course the section which contains information that identifies you and includes your address, name as well as social security number and even driving license number and name of spouse, your date of birth and telephone number.

Credit History

The second section is the one that contains your credit history and includes your credit accounts. It contains information such as the duration for which you have held the account, the kind of account it is, and whether it is jointly held or not, and also the loan amount taken and credit limits.

If anyone wishes to learn how to read a credit report, this section must be read over carefully in order to find out whether an individual has been making timely payments or not. It is also to determine whether that individual has ever owed money that was not repaid.

Another important aspect in learning how to read a credit report concerns the third section. In this section, the credit report contains information about your public records including any bankruptcies, judgments that have been made that were not in your favor and also any tax liens.

Yet another important aspect to learning how to read a credit report deals with the fourth section in which is contained information regarding enquiries that have been made about you. Thus, whenever an enquiry is made regarding your credit standing, such information is included in this section of your credit report though to be sure, soft enquiries are not included.

According to the Fair and Accurate Transactions Law that came into force in early December of the year 2003, each and every American citizen has the right to obtain a copy of his or her credit report. They can obtain it once a year, and without cost, from the three major credit report bureaus , which are Trans Union, Experian and Equifax.

The bottom line is that it is really not at all hard to learn how to read a credit report because the reports are most often made in this basic format. It is also standard practice for credit bureaus to give explanations of terms used (usually at the back of the report) and these explanations help let you know what various letters and numbers against your account really mean.

Using Legal Credit Repair Services

Bad credit happens and this is unfortunate. No matter how personally responsible a person may be there is the unfortunate potential to see one’s credit rating take a dive. While it is true that a great variety of problems can derive from bad credit, this is not something that people should invest their time wallowing.

In short, if one wishes to eliminate the problems associated with bad credit then the person must take the steps necessary for eliminating bad credit. To do this requires the help of a legal credit repair service. The following will provide an insight into this help:

The Need for the Services of Legal Credit Repair

What many need to understand is that repairing bad credit is not exactly something that can be performed by a novice. Well, actually, a novice can attempt to clear up bad credit all by himself but the results will be disastrous, This is why seeking the aid of professional legal credit repair is critical because a legal credit repair service with expertise in the field can easily provide the proper assistance needed to reverse the negative course that bad credit has taken a client.

When a team of legal credit repair service professionals are brought together to deal with a problem they may have the ability to wipe the slate clean for an individual who may have previously suffered from the negative realm of a bad credit report. Now, this is not to say that there are magic or secret formulas that can be employed to cleaning up bad credit. Such a magic formula is not possible and does not exist. Furthermore, any legal credit repair service that makes such a promise is not being honest or ethical.

So, this brings about the question as to what it is exactly that a legal credit repair team of professionals can actual do. What they can do is they can bring their expertise and their knowledge to the table to cut the very critical payment deals with the creditors a person may be indebted.

These deals can include devising lump some payments, reduction of interest, penalties and fees, etc. In other words, what these credit repair professionals can do is change the current landscape a person in debt might be facing so that the debt is not overwhelming or stifling. From this, a light at the end of proverbial (debt) can become visible and, hopefully, will be reached as well.
